“Obligations of States” at the core of the Venice Academy of Human Rights 2013
The fourth edition of the Venice Academy of Human Rights will focus on the theme of "Obligations of States" (see the programme schedule). It will take place from 8 - 19 July 2013 in the peaceful setting of the monastery of San Nicolò in Venice Lido.
Addressed to academics, practitioners and PhD/JSD students the Academy provides an enriching and interdisciplinary forum to exchange views, ideas and arguments with leading human rights experts from around the world.
The Faculty includes:
- Jeremy Waldron, University Professor, New York University School of Law
- Christian Reus-Smit, Professor of International Relations at the University of Queensland
- Malcolm Shaw, Senior Fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law
- Brigitte Stern, Emeritus Professor of International Law at the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne
- Françoise Tulkens, former Judge and Vice-President of the European Court of Human Rights
- Neil Walker, Regius Professor of Public Law and the Law of Nature and Nations at the School of Law, University of Edinburgh.
